We have been celebrating "wild readers" at Westwood. A "wild reader" is a reader who:
- Dedicates time to read
- Knows how to choose a just right book
- Shares books and reading with other readers
- Show preferences
- Plans for future reading
We have wild reading teachers at students at Westwood. I love to share my reading life with my students and they give me some great book recommendations. I recently read "Hugo Cabret" because it was recommended to me by one of my fourth graders. Check back to this blog for ideas on helping your children become wild readers!
Thanks to Donalyn Miller for her inspirational book: "Reading in the Wild".
