Enumclaw School District Summer Reading Program

The Enumclaw School District is running a reading summer school for identified second and third graders.  In addition to the program for identified second and third graders, the Sunrise library will be open to ALL students this summer!

The Sunrise library will be open this summer!

Every Tuesday

June 30 - August 18m, 2015

In addition to the library being open, students who received LAP support during the 2014-2015 school year can also come to the LAP room during open library times to check out "just right" books each week.

Tools used in the LAP Classroom

The LAP teacher and paraeducators use a variety of tools to help LAP students better their reading skills and achievement.  Below are the programs and resources that are used in the LAP room:

-Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention kits

-Reading Recovery

-Book Clubs

-Book check-ins and book box check-ins

-IPads with reading apps and books

-Kindles with "just right" books

The LAP teacher employees a variety of programs to meet the changing and diverse needs of all LAP students.  Not all students use each program or resource, and no one program or resource is used in exclusion for each student.

In addition to the programs above, the LAP teacher and paraeducators also use trade books read in small groups and read alouds, as well as literacy games.  Each student is assessed and curriculum is modified on a continuing basis.

If you would like to learn more about the work your child does during "LAP time" please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs. Tiger Tice!
